The team took a road trip to New Mexico to take on Los Alamos in a league match and with only 15 players available for the trip and able to play defeated Los Alamos 34 to 0. Fort Collins kicked off to start the match and immediately started to pressure Los Alamos keeping then pinned deep in their end of the pitch. After several near trys Los Alamos tried to kick it out but was returned by Fort Collins and after a pass to Hannah Wilson, she was able to break into the try zone and start the scoring 5-0. Los Alamos played good defense for most of the first half until Sadie Anderson broke a tackle and went in for the score to make it 10-0 where it would stay at half. Second half saw Fort Collins take control and early on Sadie did a chip kick over the defense that was run down by Maddie Robinson to up the lead to 17-0 with Sadie's conversion. This continued when the ball was spun out to outside center Alex Clinton and she fought her way in for a try and a 22-0 lead. With about 10 minutes to go in the match Fort Collins was forced to play a player down due to injury but that didn't slow them down as Sadie followed it up with two more great runs for trys and a conversion to end the match at 34-0. Another great team effort especially for several players that haven't had much playing time on the A-side and were forced to step it up and that they did. Overall a good road trip as Los Alamos showed great hospitality both on Friday night with a dinner for us and on Saturday with a post match party that included lunch and showing the Rugby World Cup Final. |

Fort Collins took on a ThunderRidge squad that had several injuries and after loaning two players to ThunderRidge cruised to a 29-0 victory. Fort Collins once again took off from the start and in the early minutes after a kick by ThunderRidge the ball was brought back by Fort Collins and pushed wide where Maddie Robinson score the try for a 5-0 lead. This was followed a few minutes later when Fort Collins had a five metre scrum and Sydney Boling took it week for a try and with the conversion by Sadie Anderson the lead went to 12-0. Just before half the ball was pushed wide by the backs and once again Maddie was able to take it in and score the try to put the lead at half 17-0. Second half saw Fort Collins keep up the pressure and Sadie was able to do a clearing kick over the defense of ThunderRidge, chase it down and score both the try and conversion to push the lead to 24-0. Maddie closed out the scoring with another try for the hat trick getting around the end again to end the match 29-0. |

Fort Collins had several starters missing due to SAT's but this gave a chance for other players to step up and that is exactly what they did beating Regis 42 to 0. Fort Collins started the match going right after Regis with both the forwards and backs attacking and early on Abi Bundy sliced through the defense for the opening try and a Fort Collins 5-0 lead. Not long after Maddie Robinson got outside and didn't stop running for a try from 60 yards out and a 10-0 lead. After Regis tried kicking back on Fort Collins, the kick was caught by Hannah Wilson and returned all the way back to extend the lead 15-0. Finally to close out the first half with some great pressure and rucking by the forwards Cassie Chiodo scored and at halftime Fort Collins was up 22-0 with the conversion by Abi. Second half saw Fort Collins pick up where they left off with Sierra Winters scoring after a good maul by the forwards to push the lead to 27-0. The backs got back into the scoring when the ball was taken to the weak side and Alexi (Bug) Schneider scored to make it 32-0. Once again on another weak side play Hannah was able to get by the defense and move the score to 37-0. Finally to close out the match, Sierra was able to just make it into the corner and close out the scoring at 42-0. |

Fort Collins Youth Rugby Girls remained undefeated by beating Summit High School Girls 17 to 5. This was a battle of the only two teams in Colorado Youth Rugby that were still unbeaten. A large crowd was on hand at Greenbriar for both sides to witness this tightly fought hard hitting contest under clear blue skies. The first half started with Fort Collins attacking hard against Summit but about every time Fort Collins would make progress into Summit territory, Summit would steal the ball from a ruck and stop them. In the 15 minute mark of the match Sadie Anderson put a high kick up for the fullback and with Fort Collins attacking the kick and putting the pressure on the fullback they were able to get a turnover and score with Sadie running it in for the try and also kicking the conversion to put Fort Collins up 7-0. The rest of the first half played a lot like the beginning with Fort Collins making progress only to be turned away by Summit and at halftime the score remained 7-0. Second half saw Summit come out attacking and moving into Fort Collins territory when a pass out wide and break by Summit resulted in a try and the score narrowed 7-5. Fort Collins didn't let up and came back attacking more in the air and with a kick by Sadie in the open area was covered by Sadie and the resulting run scored the second try of the day and moved Fort Collins ahead 12-5. Fort Collins continued to pressure Summit with kicks that kept them defending the try zone and with about 6 minutes to play the ball was passed out wide to inside center Maddie Robinson for the try and with the conversion by Sadie the final score was 17-5. It was good to see that Summit had enough players to field a B-side match, which gave both teams a chance to get more playing time for all there players. In this match Fort Collins struck first with Kaci Woodcock scoring to give Fort Collins the lead 5-0. Summit struck back with a penalty kick late in the first half to make the score at halftime 5-3. Second half saw Fort Collins play some great team ball with good passes from the tackles and this resulted in Hannah Wilson scoring a try to seal the victory at 10-3. |

Fort Collins traveled to Chaparral to play Highlands Ranch on Saturday, which turned out to be a friendly match since Highlands Ranch was short of players and had players from Chaparral and Douglas County fill in to complete a side. Fort Collins Youth Rugby Girls started off slow in the match but after about ten minutes Sadie Anderson sliced through the defense to score the first try and put FCYR up 7-0. This was followed by Caitlin Chvatal finding and overload and breaking around the end to push the score 12-0. Sadie then came back with a kick over the defense and received a good bounce to move the score to 19-0 with the conversion. Sadie had another try late in the first half to keep pushing the score to 24-0. Finally right at the end of the first half Maddie Robinson looped all the way around the wing to overload the defense and close out halftime with Fort Collins up 29-0. Being a friendly match Fort Collins made numerous subs to get everyone playing time. Second half saw Highlands Ranch control the ball better and at the ten minute mark score a try to make it 29-5. Fort Collins then stiffened and Morgan Ackley made some great cuts to score and with the conversion by Carina Chvatal the score was 36-5. Highlands Ranch did keep up the pressure and with two late trys the final was 36-15. Match gave everyone some good playing and learning time and overall other than a few mistakes was a strong match. |
