Boy’s Finish Season Winning the Wooden Bowl Championship

The Fort Collins Youth Rugby Boys finished the season winning their final three matches to take home the Wooden Bowl Championship at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, May 2.  In the first match they played Chaparral B and never looked back controlling the match completely and winning 17-0.  In the sem-final match they took on a much improved Junior Gents of Aspen and saw the Gents jump to a 19-5 lead with only 6 minutes to play in the match.  Fort Collins then took over scoring 3 uncoverted trys, the last coming with only 1 minute to go in the match to pull a come from behind victory 20-19.  In the Championship match Fort Collins took on Cherry Creek B and with Cherry Creek keeping the match close in the middle of the first half, Fort Collins took off and never looked back winning 22-0 to make them the 2009 Wooden Bowl Champions.
